Business Made Easy is an awareness and educational campaign initiated to communicate the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council’s (PEBEC) mandate.
In order to make running a business easier in Nigeria, reforms have been implemented which should translate to Nigeria being ranked in the top 100 in the 2019/20 World Bank Ease of Doing Business Index. The Business Made Easy campaign was launched to effectively inform and educate Nigerians about these reforms. The reforms on two business essentials have been discussed and concerns about their implementation have been shared below.
Entrepreneurs would be able to reserve and register their businesses within 24 hours on the E-platform. Tax Identification Number (TIN) for Tax Payments will be automatically generated. In addition to this, the Company Incorporation Form will be simplified while registration fees will be payable online through the company registration portal (CRP). We believe entrepreneurs will look forward to these developments.
As excited as we are about this development, we are hopeful this will not increase the cost of registering businesses not forgetting the default “no network” or “system downtime” response on our E-platforms.
With the help of the initiative the time required to connect new customers has dropped to 30 days from 176 days. Application for connection to the electricity grid can be done online. Procedures required to connect new customers has reduced from 9 steps- 5 steps.
Here’s the question? is there going to be actual power supply after connection or will business owners be required to acquire generators that would eventually be used for 20 hours out of 24hours?
We look forward to reading your concerns and views about this initiative. Visit businessmadeeasy.ng to learn more about this initiative and the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).
