Omion Amadin was definitely excited while talking to us about how he decided to earn a degree in Entrepreneurial studies from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta after assuming the position of “personal assistant” to his dad in his business.
According to him, watching his parents run their businesses made him realize that entrepreneurship skills were inborn in him and all he had to do was get better at them. Kitchen Services (his business) is aimed at providing high quality and professional services to domestic and commercial kitchens, these include; LPG gas refill, kitchen designs, sales, repair, installations and fabrications of kitchen equipment and appliances.
He’s into production of Industrial Ovens and Burners, Mixers, Potato /Cassava Peeler, Pounding Machine, Shawarma Machine. When he is not improving your kitchen, he listens to music, writes and watches football.
What challenges have you faced on this journey?
Environmental, political, financial and human factors, tax payment, the struggles with the FIRS, LIRS. Our consumers are a major challenge too as most of them want locally manufactured products of high quality but are reluctant to pay the price. They’d rather buy imported products at higher prices than purchase locally made ones, accessing grants and loans can be quite difficult. However, I won’t fail to appreciate the government for making it easier for SMEs to register their businesses at lower rates.
What do you enjoy about being an entrepreneur?
There’s a certain amount of joy and satisfaction derived when you’re doing what you love. Freedom, Decision making and proffering solutions to problem is mostly fun.
How would you rate your profit making?
Taking into consideration diligence, dedication and most importantly financial input, it’s safe to say, profit making can be better.
What’s your advice to other entrepreneurs?
Success is a journey and not a destination so there shouldn’t be an option of stopping completely. Keep walking.
